Week 2 Wrap Up: St. Louis vs. San Francisco

San Francisco 20 — St. Louis 13

Key Play: Antonio Bryant caught a 72 yard TD in the 3rd quarter to make it 17-10. That type of explosiveness has been missing from the 49ers offense in recent years.

Stud: Frank Gore. 127 yards and a TD with 2 starting lineman out of the game.

Dud: Marc Bulger. He wasn’t horrible, but he only threw for 185 yards. St. Louis wasn’t supposed to miss a beat with Scott Linehan’s offense, but they haven’t been able to get it going yet.

Saw that coming: We thought that Alex Smith and Frank Gore would look good against St. Louis’s defense.

But not that: 185 yards in the air? Against the 49ers? In case anyone’s wondering, the Greatest Show on Turf is officially dead.
