Week 2 Wrap Up: Detroit vs. Chicago
By Brett | Permalink |Chicago 34 — Detroit 7
Key Play: In the middle of the 3rd quarter, trailing 24-7, the Lions had an INT return for a TD called back on a penalty. Chicago then drove down and scored,to make it 31-7, instead of a surmountable 24-14. This play was emblematic of the Lions day, in which they absolutely killed themselves with stupid penalties and turnovers.
Stud: Rex Grossman. Last time he started a game in Chicago, he was roundly booed by the Chicago fans. This time? 20-27, 289 yards, 4 TDs. Can we stop talking about Brian Griese now?
Dud: Roy Williams. After guaranteeing a victory, Roy had a non-descipt 70 yard game with no TDs.
Saw that coming: Lions front 7 making it tough for Chicago to run the ball.
But not that: We really didn’t expect this one to be a blowout, and, if not for all the mental mistakes that Detroit made, it wouldn’t have been.
