1st Annual Best Gear Awards
By Brett | Permalink |No one has ever accused us of being a fashionista. We don’t know the difference between wool and tweed, and we’ve owned the same three pairs of shoes for the last six years. We’d wear a T-shirts and jeans every day, to every function if we could get away with it.
Generally speaking, we really don’t care what anyone else is wearing either. But, when it comes to football, looking badass is almost as important as actually being badass.
And it’s with that in mind that we present the 1st Annual NFL Logue Gear Awards.
We’re looking for classic colors, lines, and simplicity. A good helmet is also a must. Nothing too loud, and certainly nothing with teal highlights.
The only fashion column we’ll ever write, after the jump.
5. Cleveland
The Browns are like the Mick Jagger of the NFL: old, leathery, ugly. But they still know how to pull chicks, and, deep down, you kinda gotta root for ‘em.
4. Houston
This is a tough one for us, because we tend to prefer teams that sport the old school look. Houston’s gear isn’t exactly ‘throwback,’ but the emblem is great, and they do a much better job of capturing the red, white and blue look than, say, the Pats. You know, David Carr may never actually win more than 7 games as the Texans QB, but at least he and his teammates look good in defeat.
3. Chicago
A team’s gear should make a statement. The Bears’ gear –especially their home jerseys– says that this is a team that will punch your stupid face.
2. Green Bay
Both the greens and the whites are just about perfect. Love the simplicity. They look good, even when Favre gets knocked on his ass.
1. New York Jets
Classic jerseys, especially the whites. Great helmets, too.

Solid choices except for Cleveland. Sure they are traditionally, but whoever came up with them 90 years ago was color blind. I think a tip of the cap should go to the Bills for their new retro jerseys this year. The buffalo looks sharp on their helmets.
Some could argue there is something special about da Raiders too.
